About Us
My Name is Gemma Holdway, I am 23 years old and have always had a real affinity with animals. I have always surrounded myself with animals and having lived on the same family farm all my life we were never short of them. During 2018 me and my family rescued the most amazing animal that soon changed our lives for the better. During march 2018 my family and I were preparing the barns for lambing. While shaking the straw up with the tractor my dad soon noticed something amongst it all, 5 what looked like kittens. we soon realised they weren't kittens at all. They were fox cubs that had obviously been born in the barn. We left them for over 24 hours and kept an eye on CCTV to see if the mother came back to feed them. We saw nothing on the cameras and so became worried for the cubs welfare as we knew if they weren't fed soon they'd die. We took them inside and fed them every 2 hours for about 3-4 days and then decided it was wise to take them to the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital in Salisbury. On our journey home we received a call from one of the staff at the hospital saying we had to go back as one of the little cubs wasn't feeding. We were asked to continue to feed and raise her until she was strong enough to fend for herself. We named her Vixey and was the most precious member of our family for 2 1/2 wonderful years. She never left, was able to wonder around our farm freely during the day but always came back at night, slept with me most nights on my bed and was a real character. She was amazing and my best friends until we lost her on the main A36 road which lies next to our home in June 2020. Broke me more than I can put into words to find my baby on the side of the road having been hit. I now progress through my life with a loving memory of the most incredible experience and sweetest natured animals I'd ever met. Being a farmers daughter, we used to have a very black and white view on foxes as we have lambs and sheep but Vixey has completely changed our views on them and we now protect them on our land and let them live in peace and harmony with us and our livestock. Having created LCF Animal Services you'll notice the fox in my logo stood on top of the 'C' in LCF. It adds a very personal touch for me into my logo and my business knowing she'll always be a part of my life.
